SS2 - Swensen's Cafe Restaurant

After our lunch at Sushi Tomo, outside still heavy rain, so we decided to proceed to next door to continue our chit-chatting session. Swensen's is just a few foot from Sushi Tomo. The last time I dine here is about more than 10 years ago. I think that time Swensen's can consider as one of the pioneer Ice Cream Restaurant.

SS1 - Sushi Tomo

Honestly I never notice the existing of Sushi Tomo in SS2. Until I search for Japanese Food in SS2 area, then only I notice it. Located same side with Wong Kong Char Chan Teng and in Swensen, this Japanese Restaurant simple and slightly worn-out.

The Unplanned Trips - Car-cari Makan JB

I have plan to made JB my first 2013 Cari-cari Makan Trip. This long planning trips supposed is on Chinese New Year but I head down to JB few week earlier for some other matters. So, even though this is not a Makan-makan trip, I still manage to add some good food inside my itinerary. So this time, I decided to put everything inside 1 post, and here my long story...

We start our long journey quite late. So not to wasted our time, we just stop at Restoran Jejantas Ayer Keroh Melaka for lunch. I had the Nasi Lemak Biasa that worth RM3.80. I seldom eat at any PLUS Highway R&R place because it is dirty. But maybe today is weekday the environment is better. The sambal is nice and slightly spicy.

We think to have some Western Food for our New Year Eve Dinner but we don't want to travel too far so our early plan is to go to De Fortune but they got function, so only selective set dinner available. Then we try to go to Silver Spoon but full house so finally we had our dinner at Juro Haven.

2012 Year End Cari-cari Makan Trip Day 2 @ Makanan Laut Kuala Sungai, Kuala Selangor

After Leaning Tower at Teluk Intan, we said Goodbye to Perak. On the way back to Kepong, we passby Kuala Selangor. So what to do, we end our day with Seafood Feast at Kuala Selangor. At first we though to go to Riverview Seafood, but somehow suddenly we saw this restaurant, Makanan Laut Kuala Sungai.

2012 Year End Cari-cari Makan Trip Day 2 @ Leaning Tower, Teluk Intan

After the rain stop, we immediately proceed to the Leaning Tower or "Menara Condong". This is the Leaning Tower in Teluk Intan and not the famous Pisa in Italy. Our Leaning Tower is located in the centre of the town of Teluk Intan, Perak. The tower is slanted leftward, with 25.5 metres tall. From outside, its looks like a 8 storey building, though inside it is actually divided into 5 storeys.

After left Ipoh, we decided to drive to Teluk Intan just to have a look at the Leaning Tower LOL! It take us more than 1 hour to reach Teluk Intan. Once we saw the Leaning Tower, immediately rain..haiz. So no choice, we need to find somewhere for us to hang around while the rain stop. I search online see what we can have now and our final decision is here, Rojak Ah Chai.

2012 Year End Cari-cari Makan Trip Day 2 @ Big Tree Foot (大树脚), Ipoh

This is very popular spot for good, cheap and satisfying lunch in Ipoh. High praise by the local and tourist. This place is name Big Tree Foot or “Dai Shu Geok” (大树脚). The location is very simple, look for Jalan Pinji and then follow the tree..they are operate under a few very big tree!

'Ayam Garam' or Salted Chicken is one of the Ipoh's specialty. I saw this Ayam Garam Sin Tat Seng while eating my funny Tau Fu Fah at Funny Mountain. This small shop is just opposite the Funny Mountain. Only for takeaway.

After exploring the Caves Temple at Ipoh, we back to hotel to check-out. Before we proceed to our lunch we drop by Funny Mountain to try the famous soyabean milk and curd (Tau Foo Fah) at Ipoh. Located just nearby Lou Wong Tauge Chicken Rice, Funny Mountain is just a very small corner shop. In fact the service area is just within the very small space infront the shop.

From Kek Look Tong, we move to Ling Sen Tong Temple (靈仙岩) which is located at Gunung Rapat off Jalan Gopeng on the southern outskirts of Ipoh. This is the first temple as you drive into the street and next to Nam Thean Tong and Sam Poh Tong

2012 Year End Cari-cari Makan Trip Day 2 @ Cave Kek Look Tong 极乐洞, Ipoh

After the heavy breakfast, we visited 2 temple before we left Ipoh. Limestone cave temples is very popular in Ipoh. We started exploring Kek Look Tong 极乐洞 (Cave Kek Look), a natural limestone cave with beautiful faura and fauna in Ipoh. Opened in the 1970s, the temple is set in a huge cave in the limestone outcrops behind Gunung Rapat, about 5km south of Ipoh City.

I found out Ipoh quite funny. When the place is famous with certain food, the whole area is serving the same thing. Just like the Chicken Bean Sprouts area and this Dim Sum area. It is so competitive!! And in this case, Foh San still can maintain good business.

After dinner at Lou Wong we walk around the nigth market in the same area. Unfortunately it is heavy rain and we stopped by a dessert shop to wait for the rain stop. After the rain stop, we go to Tuck Kee to have some supper. Honestly all of us is not hungry, just feel so tempted to try their famous Yuet Kwong Hor (Moonlight Flat Noodle) and Steam Baby Octopus that is introduce by Astro AEC; Taste with Jason.

My early plan is to go to Onn Kee but Iif not mistaken I ate there ver long time ago. Plus Onn Kee is so empty while Lou Wong so happening, so we end-up at Lou Wong. Ipoh Bean Sprouts Chicken is a MUST TRY if you are first time visiting Ipoh.

Restoran Pun Chun in Bidor, Perak is a must-stop destination for all good food lover. This is also a place for tourist to stopped by while heading to the north. Well-known for its Duck Drumstick Noodle, Pun Chun also sell local famous biscuit, petai and etc.

After breakfast at Yik Mun Tanjung Malim we drove to Sg Klah Hot Spring at Sungkai via Plus Highway. Its take less then 1 hour to reach Sungkai Toll exist but our GPS guide us to the wrong way!! Really "Guna Pun Sesak (GPS)"!! After the toll exist, just follow the Felda Hot Spring Signage.

2012 Year End Cari-cari Makan Trip-Day 1 @ Yik Mun Pau Tanjung Malim

We plan for a vacation to Ipoh, Perak quite sometimes and finally we make it before 2013. This 2D1N exploring Perak trip is my 2012 final Cari-cari Makan Trip. As what we know nothing much we can do at Ipoh so we add in a lot of stopped by place before we reach Ipoh. Our first stop for breakfast is at Yik Mun in Tanjung Malim, Perak. Yik Mun is famous with the pau and simple Hainanese food to the local. It is also a popular spot for tourists who stopped by for a cuppa or simple food before heading to the north. Located at the corner shop lot on Jalan Slim River, Tanjung Malim, Yik Mun has been certified halal, and now serves mostly Malay dishes.

Kepong - Heng Kee FT BKT

Here another Heng Kee BKT!! But I believe this is not any branches from the famous Heng Kee at PJ. Located at the roadside shoplot at Jalan Kepong, this shop is easily to miss out. Basically it is the shoplot before Hong Leong Bank and opposite Laman Rimbunan.

Located in a house numbered 52, they decided to just name it after the house number. 52 is famous with the Sang Har Mee ( Big Prawn Noodle). We purposely travel from Kepong to Semenyih just to try it. Anywhere it just tasted so so only :-p

Sakura Nasi Lemak once is the pioneer for Authentic Nasi Lemak. The last time I dining in Sakura Restaurant is about more than 15 years ago :-p. Located in Jalan Imbi, and this restaurant also offer other oriental cuisine.

Damansara Uptown - Hayaki 24 Jam

Hayaki 24 jam ia a local kopitiam serve Kelantan Food. You may mistaken it is a Japanese Restaurant when look at it name. Located at the corner shop next to the Village Park, the wide selection of Kelantan Food seem special to me.

Tokyo Pastry should related to Tokyo Kitchen base on the design, branding and name :-p. It is located at Kota Damansara (Next to Watson). This beautiful decorated bakery and cafe is cozy and relaxing. I didn't dine here, just to grab a few cakes and pastry for my Christmas Dinner Dessert Bar.
